Where Our Flags Are Made

Every flag we sell is sewn in the United States. All of them come from four American flag manufacturers: Annin Flagmakers, Valley Forge Flag, Eder Flag and Flagzone. That includes the flags sold under the Tidmore Flags name. We've been selling American-made flags from Aberdeen, South Dakota, since 1963, and we still choose our suppliers by where and how they make their flags.

The short version

  • Made in the USA: 100% of our flags, including American, state, military, international, historical and custom flags.
  • Made by: Annin Flagmakers, Valley Forge Flag, Eder Flag and Flagzone.
  • Certified: flags marked "FMAA Certified" on their product pages carry the Flag Manufacturers Association of America's serialized "Certified Made in U.S.A." label.
  • Imported: a few accessories, such as some flagpole toppers, are made overseas. Our flags never are.
  • Ships from: our warehouse in Aberdeen, South Dakota, usually within 1–2 business days.

What "FMAA Certified" means

The Flag Manufacturers Association of America (FMAA) is the trade association for American flag makers. Its "Certified Made in U.S.A." mark is a registered certification label for flags made in the United States from US-made materials. Each certified flag carries a serialized label, so the claim can be traced back to the maker. That's a stronger guarantee than a plain "Made in USA" tag, which no one independently checks.

How to check any flag, from us or anyone else

  1. Look for the FMAA certification label on the header, the heavy canvas strip next to the grommets.
  2. Read the header tag for the manufacturer's name and country of origin.
  3. Check the construction. American-made outdoor flags usually have lock-stitched seams, several rows of stitching on the fly end and solid brass grommets.
  4. Ask us. We'll tell you who made any flag we sell, and where. Email sales@tidmoreflags.com.

What isn't made in the USA

Every flag we sell is made in the USA. A few accessories, such as some flagpole toppers (finials), are made overseas. If country of origin matters for your order, ask us before you buy and we'll confirm it.

Why it matters

  • It lasts longer outdoors. American flag makers use heavyweight nylon and polyester, colorfast dyes and reinforced fly ends built for real wind.
  • It's made to spec. Colors, star placement and proportions follow official US flag specifications.
  • It supports American jobs. Our flags are sewn by workers in Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and beyond.
  • It means something. For many of our customers, including veterans, schools, churches and government offices, an American flag should be made in America.
